Early literacy comprises five best practices: sing, talk, read, write, and play. Carrollton Public Library wanted to update their signs to be more inclusive. I chose animals to softly depict the different types of families that would come to storytime. Multigenerational, single parent, large families, same sex parents, parents or children with disabilities are all represented throughout the different animal families. I know there are more that I could have included, and didn’t due to space. I was always so inspired by illustrations I saw as a kid, and I was hoping to inspire inclusivity within the next generation!
